  • Murder Mountain · 6 pages

Bank robbers Max and Monk take shelter in an old house on Murder Mountain. That night, they witness scenes from the past, as Cal and Jess murder helpless travelers but are eventually caught by deputies. Jess and his sister are shot to death and Cal is hanged. Max and Monk are arrested, the police having been attracted to the old house by sounds of gunfire from "near a hundred years ago."

  • Blade of Death · 2 pages
  • Smoke Spirit · 6 pages

Reporter Ken is told by a female ghost--who appears in a cloud of pipe smoke--to visit the Scarlett Acres plantation. Owners Hugh and Sonia plan to murder Ken, but the ghost, Hugh's sister Honey, warns him. She says they murdered her and buried her in the tobacco fields. That's why she appears in smoke. To help Honey avenge herself, Ken tricks Hugh and Sonia into burning a barnful of tobacco. This gives Honey the power to destroy her murderers. Honey can now rest in peace.

  • Singing Slaves · 7 pages

A hundred years ago, Blackton raided a village in Asia and enslaved 100 people. As they are led into captivity, they sing a song cursing him. When a British gunboat draws near, Blackton throws the slaves into the sea to drown. However, he continues to hear their song, and is eventually dragged into the sea to die. Divers in modern times still see the corpses of the slaves on the ocean floor, singing their song.
