Wealthy Margaret marries serviceman Peter while he's on furlough. She agrees to live on his salary. They move to a town near his camp and live in a shabby apartment. Margaret becomes bored and tells Peter she's pregnant and wants to have her baby at home; he's being shipped overseas anyway, so he agrees. She resumes her social life and when Peter returns to the USA, she refuses to live with him. He also discovers her lie about pregnancy. He leaves but Margaret discovers this time she really is pregnant. Rick and Margaret reconcile, on his terms.

  • Wrong Way Girl · 7 pages

Ruth is assistant to the president of a factory, but rarely dates. She goes out with co-worker Fred, then learns he's just using her to get a promotion. Marine Stan asks her for a date but stands her up, so Ruth changes her image and starts going out with multiple servicemen even though the dates are "cheap and tawdry." Stan returns and explains he couldn't get away for their first date, but he now wants the "sweet and kind" Ruth he met before. She agrees.

Janice and Carol are roommates. While Janice dates many men, Carole is faithful to Gil, her boyfriend in the service. Gil arrives on furlough and Janice decides to prove to Carole that he's just like other men. Janice pretends Carole is away and dates Gil. Janice falls for Gil and decides to break up his romance with Carole. However, her scheme is exposed and Gil and Carole remain together. Janice has learned a lesson about "faith and trust in love."

  • No One Wanted Me · 2 pages

Ellen dates many men but "after a few dates they would never call me again." She goes out with naval officer Jim and falls for him, but he also vanishes. Her friend Rhoda says "you talk too much...and always about yourself." Ellen calls Jim for a date and this time keeps her mouth shut: "a girl's biggest asset is to listen, rather than talk." Jim kisses her.

  • Unfit to Marry · 7 pages

Nancy hates her small town life. When her boyfriend Brad is called up to the Marines and sent to Hawaii, she writes and says she'll marry him now. When Nancy arrives, she postpones the wedding and Brad finally says he's leaving for Korea soon. They break up. She dates Lou, a Naval officer, but when he learns what she did to Brad, he dumps her. To stay in Hawaii, Nancy gets a job as a nurse's aide in the Naval Hospital. She learns "happiness isn't just a lot of noise and laughter." Brad shows up, wounded. He's going back to their small town and Nancy will go with him, as his wife.
