Otto, as Superior Venom, battles the Avengers. The Goblin King forces Carlie to join his crew. Iron Man retrieves the injured Flash Thompson from Parker Industries and loans him his armored suit to rejoin the team. Flash's arrival distracts Otto, providing the opening needed for Peter Parker's long-dormant consciousness to re-emerge and help separate Otto from the Venom symbiote. Later, Otto (as Spider-Man) tells the Avengers that the symbiote was responsible for any questionable behavior (as Peter, he tells Mary Jane the same). Later, Iron Man proves to his teammates that Spider-Man is lying.
