Stories

  • The Sucker · 10 pages

A drifter is "turned" by a vampire, but doesn't understand this strange new condition and powerful urges, so he attempts to track the woman down. He continually feels that he has found her at last only to realize his mistake when he has slaked his blood thirst upon his latest victim. Eventually the citizens discover his hiding place and pound a stake through his heart and he dies without ever fully comprehending what has happened to him.

  • Sure-Fire Scheme · 10 pages

A man awaiting execution fakes his own death by pretending to be dead. He had told his girlfriend earlier to come claim his body at a certain time after his "death" so he can be revived. Problem is, she comes 12 hours too late and his body had been cremated.

  • Rest in Peace · 10 pages

A man and his wife are near death. After the wife dies, he had her buried in the family crypt but was supposed to free her after she rings a special bell he had rigged to her coffin when she was ready to return to life. He fails to do so and she dies again in her coffin.

  • The Basket · 12 pages

A man born with two heads carries a basket around on his shoulder to prevent others from knowing of his condition. One of the heads is homicidal and when it begins to seize control, the good head opts for suicide.

  • The Gorilla's Paw · 12 pages

Uneasily eyeing objects in a curio shops' window, Floyd is summoned inside by the owner and induced to buy a mummified gorilla's paw for $25. He tosses it on his nightstand and goes to bed, but in the morning, the paw is covered with $25. The next day, the paw disappears, then reappears with blood all over it and one of his friends dead. Floyd soon learns that the paw will grant his wishes, with devastating results!
