Stories

  • The Strange New World of the Fly · 8 pages

Orphan Tommy Troy overhears crooks and is sent to a haunted house of "wizards". Tommy finds a fly ring that opens a dimensional portal. Out steps Turan of the Fly People, a super-advanced race that devolved into flies, waiting for a person to battle crime and greed. Tommy is bequeathed powers of walking on walls, super-strength, seeing in all directions, and cunning to escape any traps. He rubs the ring and becomes a costumed man: The Fly! Now to serve justice!.. "The Fly Strikes" He wraps the orphan manager and crooks for the cops, reverts to Tommy Troy, and Turan says farewell.

  • The Fly Discovers His Buzz Gun · 5 pages

In the haunted house, the wizard sends Tommy for groceries. He's knocked down by fleeing crooks. He meets Dolly, a girl nearby. He rubs his ring, becomes The Fly, and tests his buzz gun. It fires stingers that put crooks to sleep. The Fly reverts to Tommy and returns to the haunted house, where he's spanked.

  • Come into My Parlor · 7 pages

Spider Spry makes nets and lassos, and swings like a spider. He sends a scuba crook to rob jewels from a freighter. Orphan Tommy Troy had read of "Waterfront Thefts". The Fly investigates, but a bright flash "upset his equilibrium" (his weakness). He falls in the water and hitches a boat ride. He battles Spider Spry in his water tower hideout, shooting his buzz gun, escaping a "web" (net). He leaves Spider hanging for the police and returns him to chop wood.

  • Sign of the Triangle · 1 pages

During the Korean War or the Second World War...a GI lost in a snowfield follows red arrows, worrying about mines. Doggedly he braves the field, only to learn the arrows point back to barracks!

  • The Search · The Shield · 2 pages

A spy seeks The Shield, asking Private Strong (The Shield). He shoots and The Shield brings him down. He's visited by The Fly, "I don't want him in trouble in my magazine!"

  • Magic Eye · 4 pages

Tommy and Dolly stop by an electronics shop just as a robot runs amok. The Fly swoops after the remote-control robot and punches it flat. Except the "scientist" then goes berserk with super strength and a steel jaw. Using his head, The Fly grabs the remote control. The "robot" was the scientist temporarily dazed, "I'm getting confused myself!"
