Stories

  • The Train of Terror! · 13 pages

Marie's forces need ammo, but a Nazi truck is booby trapped and explodes. Her signal to Army HQ is jammed by Von Ekt. Army HQ needs to find and destroy new Nazi dreadnaught [sic] tanks. Captain Allan parachutes in, but he and Marie are spotlighted and gassed... Near the super-tanks, Marie and Allan are put aboard a Nazi ammunition train. The Underground tries to flag it, but are showered with grenades. Marie kisses Allan as a distraction. They overpower the guard and highball the train to jump the tracks and destroy the tanks. Marie is a mess. "The cutest coal miner I ever saw!"

  • Battle Story of the 3rd Marine Division... World War II · 2 pages
  • Cry "Wolf" Mission! · 6 pages

In the Pacific, Davey Lee, frogman, slides under a sub net but gets blasted. Skipper Ben, his brother, sends out Davey and another frogman, but the net is gone! He's told not to "cry wolf!" They find a quiet sub and detonate it. But USN destroyers keep getting sunk. Finally they find an electrified net, enemy frogmen, and the killer sub and blow it up. The enemy used a dummy sub and kept moving it. But "The third try was it!"

  • Iron Cross vs Bronze Star! · 6 pages

Two soldiers on opposite sides... Nazi Cpl Langer stands like an iron statue and blows a tank, earning an Iron Cross... PFC Jack Hall desperately holds a position and receives a Bronze Star... The two men converge on a stone tower for an observation post. They battle. The Nazi sneers as the American ducks and dives. But in a final fight in the dark, "Iron is brittle... and it breaks." The GI reflects how the medals themselves really did the fighting.
