When she falls in love for real with Roger, Thelma’s ex-friend Marion, one of her victims, gets her revenge: Roger proposes to her instead. Thelma fakes a break-up letter from Marion to Roger and Roger comes back to her. However, on their wedding day Marion exposes the fraud and Thelma is left at the altar.

  • Tall, Dark, and Hands Off · 6 pages

Bess and Stella are friends, although Bess is “lower middle class” and Stella is wealthy. Bess falls in love with Stella’s fiancé Jim. He admits he doesn’t really love Stella, but her wealth was a ticket to “the easy way in life!” Now Jim decides that true love is more important, and Bess is the woman for him.

  • Stormy Heart · 2 pages
  • The Man Who Left Me · 6 pages

Sandra falls in love with her new boss, bank executive David, and he feels the same about her. However, Gilda, daughter of the bank president, sets her cap for David and monopolises his time. David proposes to Sandra but tells her to keep this a secret. Sandra loses her job after taking the blame for David’s apparent error; unaware of this, he breaks their engagement. David then discovers that he was at fault, and apologises to Sandra. The wedding is back on.

  • For the Love of Linda · 5 pages

Linda demonstrates household appliances on television commercials; Jim thinks she is “a real housewife” like his mother, and proposes marriage. However, Linda can’t actually cook: all the food in the commercials was prepared by professionals. Jim accuses Linda of deception and breaks their engagement. Linda takes cooking lessons from his mother and wins Jim back.
