Stories

  • My Savage Love! · 10 pages

Anne convinces her boyfriend, nerdy, “safe” Martin, to take her to a new nightclub, where she meets hyper-masculine Fred. They begin to date secretly, because her parents wouldn’t approve. Fred is crude, unfaithful and drinks too much, but Anne is obsessed with him. When Martin shows Anne that he can be a caveman-style lover as well, Anne dumps Fred.

  • My Sister's Shadow! · 7 pages

Alice’s older sister Elaine is smart, beautiful and popular. Alice finds herself attracted to Elaine’s fiancé Ben, but Ben rejects her advances. Elaine confesses that she drove herself to excel because she was jealous of the way her parents felt about Alice. The sisters reconcile and Elaine marries Ben.

  • Untitled · 3 pages

Iris falls in love with soldier Bart, but her mother warns her that he’s only looking for some fun before he goes overseas. Bart asks Iris to marry him before he leaves, but she’s unsure. Ray Mann suggests they put the problem to readers of Love Diary.

  • I Was a Sensitive Soul · 7 pages

Salesclerk Lila gets her way with men by pretending to be sensitive and easily-hurt. She tries this on Jim when he says he has to move to New York temporarily on business, but he won’t change his plans and departs. Lila dates fellow worker Barry and is offended and hurt when he helps Terry with her ice skating routine. Barry, tired of her self-pity and refusing to be guilt-tripped anymore, breaks up with Lila. Lila realizes she didn’t think of how her sensitivity made others feel. She apologizes to Barry and they reconcile.
