Cable continues his jaunt through time in order to evade Bishop and keep the mutant baby safe. Meanwhile, back on earth, Cyclops is plagued with nightmares as he is trying to deal with the guilt of once again sending his son into the future alone. He tries everything possible to track Bishop and Cable, employing the services of X-Force, Forge and Beast. With his efforts proving unsatisfactory, he buries a capsule message to his son in the ruins of X-Mansion hoping that Cable will find it in the future.

Publisher’s description

Special double-sized issue featuring the Uncanny X-Men! Meanwhile, back in the present . . . In the aftermath of the “Messiah Complex” war, Cyclops took a leap of faith and allowed his son Cable to disappear into the time stream with the first new mutant birth since “M” day -- and the future of the dwindling mutant population -- tucked under his arm. Weeks later, he still waits for a sign, however small, that he made the right decision. With evidence pointing to the fact that Bishop has jumped into the timestream and is hot on Cable’s trail, the X-Men’s unquestioned leader is about to make one final power move to protect the fate of mutantkind – one that he might come to regret.
