Static is drawn into the interdimensional disturbance when characters from the comic book he's been working on come to life. Superboy and Rocket join him, still confused by what's happening. In both dimensions, different people are determined to learn more about Fred Bentson so they can use him to their advantage, but Fred has now transformed into the gigantic humanoid Rift. Elsewhere, Superman's confrontation with the Blood Syndicate is halted by the sudden threat of a massive tidal wave.
