Stories

  • Part One: The Hanged Man · 18 pages

In modern day England, Adam Cadman is the first criminal to be executed by hanging in over 20 years. As he drops through the chute, the rope around his neck does not immediately kill him and he finds himself in the fantastic land of Mazeworld. His hood will not come off and he is immediately identified as one of Mazeworld's prophesied heroes. He quickly runs afoul of Lord Maskul's soldiers and is rescued by the beautiful rebel, Riadne. Even though he tries to betray her to save himself, she brings him to her fellow rebels and explains the Mazeworld to him.

  • Part Two: Dark Man · 14 pages

Maskul's soldiers attack Riadne and her rebel friends and Adam once again tries to betray them and save himself. His escape plan doesn't work, however, and Riadne, disgusted by his traitorous behavior, leaves him for Maskul's men. Finding that he cannot remove Adam's hood but recognizing that he may be able to use him as a powerful symbol, Maskul secures him away in the dungeon. Adam meets fellow prisoner Ketch. Lord Raven arrives to negotiate with Lord Maskul.
