A postal worker named Fred Bentson has a problem: when he falls asleep, he wakes up in another universe. The universe of Superman's Metropolis, in fact. Alva asks Hardware to investigate and Curt ends up tagging along with Fred on one of his inter-dimensional trips. While in Metropolis, Hardware has to deal with some aspiring scavengers/rapists. After cleaning house, Hardware looks in a mirror and sees Steel looking at him from the other side. The mirror shatters, Fred awakes, and Hardware is back home. Alva is overjoyed; another universe to exploit.
Publisher’s description
Part two of “Worlds Collide,” the 14-part DC/Milestone crossover event, continued from Superman: The Man of Steel #35: Fred Bentson’s strange dreams compel him to seek help from a sleep research laboratory. But the lab is a subsidiary of Alva Technologies, bringing Hardware into Edwin Alva’s latest scheme…a plot to bridge dimensions, using the unwitting Bentson as the focal point. Continued in Superboy #6.
