To pay for the death of Prime and other atrocities against dimensions and universes, Parmy forces Morty to hunt for Rick and return him for punishment, or Morty's own life is forfeit. In the unreality of "Fringe Space", Rick hides out in a dimension created out of his own fan-fiction, with "perfect" fan-fic versions of Beth, Summer, and Jerry. After Morty kills the fictional Ball Fondlers, the New Vindicators show up and take Morty to Rick's fan-fic dimension, where that version of Summer and Beth are killed, and a very heroic Jerry sacrifices himself allowing Rick and Morty to escape.
